My whole red cells were nearly wiped out and bone marrow weren't making any more. I thought I had a chest infection because I was breathless but I was heading for a major heart attack. I had 3 transfusions to replace blood cells and kick start my bone marrow. Now my doctor just puts out the fires than try and treat my Lupus. Last year I had a stroke but stay 2 mins from hospital so was treated nearly immediately. Lost some feeling and weakness still down left side and short term memory is shot to hell. I've made it clear to my consultant I would rather be on immune suppressants than run this lottery on my health.

I do have a supportive and loving family. But I feel most do not truly understand the extent of this disease and how difficult it is to manage. I’m 32 and it’s like my life has been completely flipped upside down. Went from training mma 5-6 days a week to needing to be careful not to bump into a door as it can become dangerous when your count is super low. It’s just a lot and it sucks feeling like no one around you truly understands.
