How To Help My Wife With IVIG Headaches?
My wife has chronic ITP and she has to get IVIG every few months. She gets terrible headaches and nausea about 24 hours after the treatment and I’m looking for some insight to how I can best help her. Is there anything to do besides just giving her regular aspirin and letting her rest that can be done to help with the headaches?
I get the excruciating headaches as well from the IVIg treatments. They’re horrible. My last hospitalization neurology came to see me and gave me a steroid and something else concoction that actually worked. I will try to find out exactly what it was and share as this was a game changer for me. I’ve also been prescribed Ubrelvy which is a migraine medication. That helps to relieve the headache better than anything they’ve given me once you already have it. Before that, the only thing that gave me a few hours of relief was morphine. But they don’t like giving that.
