Beyond infections, medications, and autoimmune conditions, other causes/risk factors for ITP include:

1. Vaccines (rarely) - particularly MMR vaccine in children
2. Unknown causes (idiopathic) - Sometimes the immune system attacks platelets without a clear trigger
3. Sometimes genetics may play a role if there's a family history

Since ITP is primarily an autoimmune condition, most cases occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets, even without an obvious trigger. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms rather than the underlying cause in these cases.
